Install EQuIS Professional Program

Upgrade EQuIS Professional

Notes

This article explains the process for installing a new instance of EQuIS Professional as well as upgrading to a new build from a previous build.

For prerequisites, see EQuIS Hardware and Software Requirements.

Package Types

A registered member of the with download permissions can download the appropriate version of EQuIS Professional and save to a known folder (e.g. Downloads). Consider the distributions below when downloading the install.

Machine Install

EarthSoft_EQuIS_{Build}_x64.msi is a machine install for EQuIS Professional.

Default installation path: C:\Program Files\EarthSoft\EQuIS

Application will be available across user profiles in shared workstations.

Requires elevated privileges to install and modify content in the installation directory.

Bundled with  EarthSoft_EQuIS_{Build}_x64.exe to allow for standard users installing with elevated privileges in environments where this is required.

Registers EQuIS as an ArcMap extension during the installation process.

Per-User Install

EarthSoft_EQuIS_PerUser_{Build}_x64.msi is the per-user install for EQuIS Professional.

Default installation path: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Programs\EarthSoft\EQuIS\ (%localappdata%\Programs\EarthSoft\EQuIS\)

Does not require elevated permissions to install.

Application only accessible to the user installing EQuIS.

User can add/remove files to the installation directory without additional permissions.

Registering the ArcMap extension requires administrative privileges to run EarthSoft.Interfaces.ArcGIS.Desktop.bat.

To use the EnviroInsite and SPM buttons in per-user EQuIS Professional, the xcopy builds of these programs should be unblocked, then copied to the
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Programs\EarthSoft\ folder path. The program folders will need to be renamed to "EnviroInsite" and "SPM", respectively, removing any build-specific information from the name. For example, the application paths should be:

EnviroInsite: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Programs\EarthSoft\EnviroInsite\EnviroInsite.exe

SPM: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Programs\EarthSoft\SPM\SPM.exe

Xcopy Install

Professional_Package_{Build}_.zip is the xcopy zip install.

Can be extracted and run to any permitted path on a machine without doing a full uninstall/install.

Extracting this package to the per-user path (%localappdata%\Programs\EarthSoft\EQuIS\) allows users to add/remove files to the installation directory without additional permissions.

See the Install EQuIS Professional via xcopy online help article for additional information.

Install EQuIS Professional Program

Complete the following steps to install EQuIS:

1.Have a registered member of the EarthSoft Community Center (ECC) with download permissions download one of the packages listed in the previous section for the desired build of EQuIS.

2.If upgrading from a previous version, uninstall the existing EQuIS Professional version by following these steps:

a.Back up the existing EQuIS program folder (typically at C:\Program Files\EarthSoft\ or %localappdata%\Programs\EarthSoft\EQuIS\) as a precaution if custom files such as reports need to be maintained. The installer is not expected to remove these.

b.Execute the install file from the previous version. Select Remove when prompted or go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall, select EarthSoft EQuIS Professional, and Uninstall.

c.Review remaining content in the EQuIS program folder. Delete the folder if not needed and retain custom files as desired.

3.Right-click on the downloaded .zip file and Unblock if blocked.

4.Extract all files from the .zip.

5.For installations (not xcopy), right-click on the .exe file and Run as administrator (if available; if not, try Run) to start the install process.

Note: Running the .msi alone will succeed but may not install all the available features. The .exe runs any *.msi files in the right order.

6.Follow the prompts provided in the Setup Wizard. Custom Setup options in the Setup Wizard are shown in the following image.

15166-install_features

The EQuIS Library is not installed by default and must be selected (if required). This option is recommended for the best EQuIS experience, as selecting the EQuIS Library will install the full EQuIS Standard Report Library.

The option to select the ArcGIS version has been removed. Read Installing ArcMap in Professional for more information.

7.Once the software has been installed, open EQuIS from the icon that can be found in the Start Menu or on the Desktop.

Install New Deployment of EQuIS Professional

Follow the steps below if installing a new deployment of EQuIS Professional.

1.Create a database or set up a new connection.

2.Register the software or connect to a database server that contains network licensing. Consult the help article Applying Licenses in EQuIS Professional for more information on network licensing for EQuIS Professional.

Upgrade EQuIS Professional

The old build of EQuIS Professional must be uninstalled prior to installing the new build of the application. Refer to the Update Application page for preparation recommendations and more details.

Notes

As of EQuIS Version 6.5.0, Pick Reports have been renamed User Reports, and Build Reports are now referred to as System Reports.

All (Beta) reports have been renamed to remove the Beta reference and add a Roman Numeral suffix indicating the report is an updated version of the original. For example, the (Beta) Analytical Results reports are now Analytical Results II and the (Beta) Action Level Exceedance reports are Action Level Exceedance II. Therefore, when updating to EQuIS 6.5, previously saved <=6.4 version (Beta) User reports will not automatically associate with the newly published "II" System Reports. To associate previous version (Beta) User Reports with the published 6.5 "II" System Reports, use the Copy User Reports Form in EQuIS Professional.

Connections from the previous version/build of EQuIS are saved in %AppData%\Earthsoft\Connections.
